12th Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic held the 12th regular press conference on Tuesday, 18 April 2017, at noon, following the presidential election repeat vote at three polling stations.

The results achieved by the candidates in the repeat vote, in order on the ballot, are as follows:

  1. Sasa Jankovic – 135 votes or 13.08%
  2. Vuk Jeremic – 13 votes or 1.26%
  3. Miroslav Parovic – 1 vote or 0.10%
  4. Sasa Radulovic – 4 votes or 0.39%
  5. Luka Maksimovic – 45 votes or 4.36%
  6. Aleksandar Vucic – 792 votes or 76.74%
  7. Bosko Obradovic –  5 votes or 0.48%
  8. Dr Vojislav Seselj –  10 votes or 0.97%
  9. Dr Aleksandar Popovic – 4 votes or 0.39%
  10. Milan Stamatovic – 2 votes or 0.19%
  11. Nenad Canak -  5 votes or 0.48%

Chairperson Dimitrijevic also announced the provisional results of the presidential election from 100% polling stations i.e. 100% of the electorate processed.

3,655,365 voters had voted in the election which is 54.36% turnout. 98.35% of the ballots were valid, while 1.65% was invalid.

  2. Vuk Jeremic – 206,676 votes or 5.66%
  3. Miroslav Parovic – 11,540 votes or 0.32%
  4. Sasa Radulovic – 51,651 votes or 1.41%
  5. Luka Maksimovic – 344,498 votes or 9.43%
  6. Aleksandar Vucic – 2,012,788 votes or 55.08%
  7. Bosko Obradovic –  83,523 votes or 2.29%
  8. Dr Vojislav Seselj – 163,802 votes or 4.48%
  9. Dr Aleksandar Popovic – 38,167 votes or 1.04%
  10. Milan Stamatovic – 42,193 votes or 1.15%
  11. Nenad Canak -  41,070 votes or 1.12%

The Chairperson reminded the attending that the final results of the presidential election held on 2 April 2017 will be ascertained and announced at the session of the Republic Electoral Commission which will be held within 96 hours from the closure of the repeat vote polling stations.

The press conference was attended by the Secretary of the Republic Electoral Commission Srdjan Smiljanic.

11th Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic held the 11th regular press conference on Tuesday, 11 April 2017, at 11 pm, following the presidential election repeat vote at eight polling stations.

The results achieved by the candidates in the repeat vote, in order on the ballot, are as follows:

  1. Sasa Jankovic – 461 votes or 13.37%
  2. Vuk Jeremic – 55 votes or 1.60%
  3. Miroslav Parovic – 11 votes or 0.32%
  4. Sasa Radulovic – 27 votes or 0.78%
  5. Luka Maksimovic – 211 votes or 6.12%
  6. Aleksandar Vucic – 2.468 votes or 71.60%
  7. Bosko Obradovic –  43 votes or 1.25%
  8. Dr Vojislav Seselj –  82 votes or 2.38%
  9. Dr Aleksandar Popovic – 21 votes or 0.61%
  10. Milan Stamatovic – 15 votes or 0.44%
  11. Nenad Canak - 15 votes or 0.44%


Chairperson Dimitrijevic also announced the provisional results of the presidential election from 99.98% of polling stations i.e. 99.96% of the electorate processed.

According to the percentage of the electorate processed, 3,654,119 voters had voted in the election which is 54.36% turnout. 98.35% of the ballots were valid, while 1.65% was invalid.

The results achieved by the candidates based on the data processed, in order on the ballot, are as follows:

  1. Sasa Jankovic – 597,980 votes or 16.36%
  2. Vuk Jeremic – 206,752 votes or 5.66%

The Chairperson reminded the attending that the results from two polling stations, polling station 62 Trstenik and polling station 75 Leskovac, where there is to be a repeat vote on Monday, 17 April 2017, remain to be processed.

10th Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic held the 10th regular press conference on Sunday, 9 April 2017, following the 39th session of the Commission, during which the electoral material from polling stations 27 and 85 in Novi Pazar were inspected in the presence of the media.

Chairperson Dimitrijevic said that there have been allegations that the polling boards had at these polling stations entered into the records 793 votes for presidential candidate Aleksanadar Vucic more than there were ballots physically present in the sack. Therefore, the Commission Chairperson proposed to open the sacks before the media and the observers and inspect the electoral material in order to ascertain the people’s will.

Dimitrijevic said that on inspection four ballots were placed in the wrong envelope, not 793, and denounced the allegations of certain media and presidential candidate Sasa Jankovic.

“This had been found to be a notorious lie. As Commission Chairperson I proposed to open the material from the two polling stations mentioned by the nominators of presidential candidate Sasa Jankovic in order to protect the integrity of the Republic Electoral Commission. The election is not over, there will be a repeat vote at eight polling stations on Tuesday, 11 April 2017, in line with the law and election procedure. The final results will be announced within 96 hours after the polling stations are closed”, said Dimitrijevic.

He appealed to the presidential candidates not to pressure the bodies conducting the election and reminded the attending that the Commission had adopted numerous OSCE recommendations in its instructions and that the representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe had commended the work of the election bodies.

Ninth Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic held the ninth regular press conference on Friday, 7 April 2017, to announce the provisional results of the presidential election from 99.9% of polling stations i.e. 99.83% of the electorate processed.

According to the percentage of the electorate processed, 3,651,113 voters had voted in the election which is 54.39% turnout. 98.35% of the ballots were valid, while 1.65% was invalid.

The results achieved by the candidates in order on the ballot are as follows:

  • Sasa Jankovic – 597,550 votes or 16.37%
  • Vuk Jeremic –206,721 votes or 5.66%

Chairperson Dimitrijevic reminded the attending that the Republic Electoral Commission had, on 5 April 2017, passed the Decree on the repeat vote in the presidential election at eight polling stations: city municipality of Zvezdara in the city of Belgrade, the city of Zrenjanin, city of Vrsac, city of Pancevo, municipality of Backa Palanka, municipality of Vrbas, municipality of Topola and the city of Kraljevo.

The repeat vote will be conducted on Tuesday, 11 April 2017, 7 am – 8 pm, after which the conditions will have been met to announce the final results of the election, the final deadline for which is Saturday, 15 April 2017, at 8 pm.

The press conference was attended by the Secretary of the Republic Electoral Commission Srdjan Smiljanic.

Eighth Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic held the eighth regular press conference on Wednesday, 5 April 2017, to announce the latest provisional results of the presidential election.

Dimitrijevic stated that 97.42% of polling stations i.e. 96.8% of the electorate has been processed so far, leaving 217 polling stations i.e. 2.58% of the electorate to be processed.

According to the percentage of the electorate processed 3,550,764 voters voted in the election which is 54.54% turnout. 98.34% of the ballots were valid, while 1.66% was invalid.

Chairperson Dimitrijevic said that the Republic Electoral Commission has so far received 49 complaints, the deadline for the submission of which had expired, and the Commission has started to rule on them yesterday.

He said the results are such that there is no theoretical possibility to change the voters’ choice even after the repeat vote at certain polling stations.

Dimitrijevic added that the records from abroad and penal institutions have arrived and are yet to be processed, and that the polling boards have operated in an orderly fashion and with technical accuracy. He said that the opposition candidates were in the majority in the polling boards – 25 members, while the ruling majority candidate had five.

Dimitrijevic thanked the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe observation mission which reported that the day of the presidential election went without incident, was well organized and the citizens voted freely.

Seventh Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Republic Electoral Commission held its seventh regular press conference on 3 April 2017, at 9 pm.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic issued the preliminary results of the presidential election based on the 95.52% of polling stations i.e. 95.27% of the electorate processed so far. 376 polling stations i.e. 4.48% of the electorate remain unprocessed.

According to the percentage of electorate processed 3,489,647 voters voted in the election which is 54.61% turnout. 98.34% of the ballots were valid, while 1.66% was invalid.

The results achieved by the candidates in order on the ballot are as follows:

  1. Sasa Jankovic – 571,155 votes or 16.33%
  2. Vuk Jeremic – 197,565  votes or 5.65%
  3. Miroslav Parovic – 11,126 votes or 0.32%

Sixth Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Republic Electoral Commission held its sixth regular press conference on 3 April 2017, at 10 am.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic announced the preliminary results of the presidential election based on the 92% of polling stations i.e. 91.23% of the electorate processed so far. 672 polling stations i.e. 8% of the electorate has not been processed.

According to the percentage of electorate processed 3,349,756 voters voted in the election which is 54.60% turnout. 98.33% of the ballots were valid, while 1.67% was invalid.

The results achieved by the candidates in order on the ballot are as follows:

  2. Vuk Jeremic – 189,052  votes or 5.64%

Fifth Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Republic Electoral Commission held its fifth regular press conference on 2 April 2017, at midnight.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic announced the preliminary results of the presidential election based on the 56.56% of polling stations i.e. 45.35% of the electorate processed so far.

This percentage shows a 54.13% turnout and the results achieved by the candidates in order on the ballot are as follows:

  1. Sasa Jankovic – 245,865 votes or 14.89%
  2. Vuk Jeremic –  87,980 votes or 5.33%
  3. Miroslav Parovic – 5,494 votes or 0.33%
  4. Sasa Radulovic – 22,497 votes or 1.36%
  5. Luka Maksimovic – 149,320 votes or 9.04%
  6. Aleksandar Vucic – 941,514 votes or 57.03%

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic said that the election day was peaceful with no irregularities. The problems that did occur were of a technical nature and were solved in the field in cooperation with the coordinators, and so far the Republic Electoral Commission had received no complaints to the election process, said Dimitrijevic.

The press conference was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Zeljka Radeta, Secretary of the Republic Electoral Commission Srdjan Smiljanic and the Director of the Republic Statistical Office Dr Miladin Kovacevic.

The Republic Electoral Commission will hold the next press conference on Monday, 3 April 2017, at 10 am.

Fourth Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Republic Electoral Commission held its fourth regular press conference on 2 April 2017, at 10 pm.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic announced the preliminary results of the presidential election. Dimitrijevic said that so far 16.84% of polling stations i.e. 9.85% of the electorate has been processed. This percentage shows a 51.41% turnout and the results achieved by the candidates in order on the ballot are as follows:

  1. Sasa Jankovic – 44,684 votes or 13.12%
  2. Vuk Jeremic – 17,742 votes or 5.21%
  3. Miroslav Parovic – 991 votes or 0.29%
  4. Sasa Radulovic – 4,279 votes or 1.26%
  5. Luka Maksimovic – 28,490 votes or 8.37%
  6. Aleksandar Vucic – 203,892 votes or 59.89%
  7. Bosko Obradovic – 7,139 votes or 2.10%
  8. Dr Vojislav Seselj – 14,860 votes or 4.36%

Third Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Republic Electoral Commission held its third regular press conference on 2 April 2017, at 7 pm. The Director of the Republic Statistical Office Dr Miladin Kovacevic shared the information on the voter turnout by 6 pm, processed using a representative sample for the territory of the Republic of Serbia without the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija.

Kovacevic stated that, based on the representative sample, by 6 pm, 46.23% of the voters have turned out at the polling stations in Serbia, 46.11% in Central Serbia, 46.45% in Vojvodina, and 49.12% in Belgrade.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic informed the public that so far there have been no irregularities at the polling stations, except for some technical problems. He announced that the next regular press conference will be held after 10 pm, and will have the first preliminary results.

The press conference was also attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Zeljka Radeta and the Secretary of the Republic Electoral Commission Srdjan Smiljanic.

Second Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Republic Electoral Commission held its second regular press conference on 2 April 2017, at 3 pm. The press conference was attended by the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission, Vladimir Dimitrijevic and Zeljka Radeta respectively, the Director of the Republic Statistical Office Dr Miladin Kovacevic and the Secretary of the Republic Electoral Commission Srdjan Smiljanic.

The Director of the Republic Statistical Office Dr Miladin Kovacevic shared the information on the voter turnout on the territory of the Republic of Serbia without the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija processed using a representative sample. By 2 pm, 29.54% of the eligible citizens have voted, 29.82% in Central Serbia and 30.17% in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic said that so far there have been no officially noted problems in the voting process at the polling stations and announced the third regular press conference for 7 pm.

First Regular Press Conference of the Republic Electoral Commission

The Republic Electoral Commission held its first regular press conference on 2 April 2017, at 11 am. The press conference was attended by the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission, Vladimir Dimitrijevic and Zeljka Radeta respectively, the Director of the Republic Statistical Office Dr Miladin Kovacevic and the Secretary of the Republic Electoral Commission Srdjan Smiljanic.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic informed the attending that all 8,396 polling stations for the presidential election have been opened and there have been no officially noted problems in the voting process, also adding that 6,724,949 citizens are eligible to vote.

The Director of the Republic Statistical Office Dr Miladin Kovacevic shared the first information on the voter turnout on the territory of the Republic of Serbia without the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija processed using a representative sample. By 10 am, 10.56% of the eligible citizens have voted, 9.73% in Central Serbia and 12.06% in Vojvodina.

The Chairperson of the Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijevic announced the second regular press conference for 3 pm.
