Direct Elections for Members of Czech and Romanian National Minority Councils Repeat Vote Today

The repeat vote in the direct elections for members of the Czech and Romanian national minority councils takes place today.

The repeat vote is conducted at two polling stations – in Vrsac for members of the National Council of the Romanian National Minority and in Bela Crkva for members of the National Council of the Czech National Minority.

The polling stations were opened this morning at 7 o’clock and the voting has so far gone with no noted irregularities.

The voters on the special electoral rolls at these two polling stations will be able to vote until 8 pm and the Republic Electoral Commission will ascertain and publish the report on the total results within 96 hours from the closure of the polling stations.

Republic Electoral Commission So Far Receives no Complaints of Irregularities in Elections of National Minority Council Members

Yesterday’s elections for national minority council members were completed without any irregularities observed and the Republic Electoral Commission has so far received no complaints to the regularity of the election process.

The Republic Electoral Commission is still receiving minutes from the polling stations in Serbia and once they have been processed the Republic Electoral Commission will announce the preliminary results.

In yesterday’s elections 18 national minorities voted for representatives for their national minority councils in a direct election. The elections were conducted at 926 the polling stations were the 467,545 voters on the special electoral rolls could cast their vote, on a total of 58 electoral lists.

The Croatian, Montenegrin, Russian and Macedonian national minority elected their representatives via an assembly of electors.

The work of the bodies conducting the elections was followed by the following foreign observers: OSCE Mission to Serbia, European Union Delegation to Serbia, and the embassies of the UK, Croatia, USA, Slovakia, Turkey, Germany and Ukraine, as well as domestic observers and representatives of the submitters of the electoral lists who supervised the work of the polling boards and the Republic Electoral Commission.

Polling Stations Closed, Election Day Completed without Irregularities

The polling stations for the direct elections of national minority council members were closed on time.

The election day, where 18 national minorities voted for representatives for their national minority councils in a direct election, was completed without any irregularities observed.

The deadline to ascertain and publish the report containing the final results is 96 hours from the closure of the polling stations i.e. 8 November 2018, at 8 pm.

The direct elections for national minority council members were conducted at 926 the polling stations were the 467,545 voters on the special electoral rolls could cast their vote.

A total of 58 electoral lists were proclaimed for the direct elections of national minority council members of the Albanian, Ashkali, Bosniak, Bulgarian, Bunjevac, Vlach, Greek, Egyptian, Hungarian, German, Polish, Roma, Romanian, Ruthenian, Slovak, Slovenian, Ukrainian and Czech national minority.

The Croatian, Montenegrin, Russian and Macedonian national minority elected their representatives via an assembly of electors.

The work of the bodies conducting the elections was observed by foreign and domestic observers, as well as representatives of the submitters of the electoral lists who supervised the work of the polling boards and the Republic Electoral Commission.

All Polling Stations Opened

All 926 of the polling stations for the direct elections of national minority council members were opened at 7 am.

So far, there have been no irregularities and the 467,545 voters on the special electoral rolls can exercise their right to vote in the direct elections until 8 pm.

In today’s elections for national minority council members in Serbia, 18 national minorities will elect their representatives in a direct vote, while four will do so via an assembly of electors.

Election of National Minority Council Members Underway

Today, 18 national minorities in the Republic of Serbia are electing representatives for their national minority councils in a direct election, while four, Croatian, Montenegrin, Russian and Macedonian, are doing so via an assembly of electors.

The 467,545 voters on the special electoral rolls can exercise their right to vote in the direct elections for national minority council members at 926 polling stations between 7 am and 8 pm.

A total of 58 electoral lists were proclaimed for all 18 national minorities which elect their council members in direct election viz. seven for the Ruthenian, six for the Albanian, five for the Roma and Ukrainian each, four for the Bosniak, Romanian and Slovak national minorities, three for the Ashkali, Egyptian, German and Czech national minorities, two for the Bulgarian, Bunjevac, Vlach and Hungarian national minorities and one for the Greek, Polish and Slovenian national minority each.

The A-4 format ballots were printed in Serbian, using the Cyrillic script, for the election of the  members of the national minority councils of the Bunjevac, Vlach, Greek, German, Polish, Roma, Slovenian and Ukrainian national minority, while the ballots for the election of the members of the national councils of the Albanian, Ashkali, Bosniak, Bulgarian, Egyptian, Hungarian, Romanian, Ruthenian, Slovak and Czech national minority, were printed in Serbian, using the Cyrillic script, and the language and script of the national minority in question.

The work of the bodies conducting the elections at all the polling stations will be observed by the following foreign observers: OSCE Mission to Serbia, European Union Delegation to Serbia, and the embassies of the UK, Croatia, USA, Slovakia, Turkey, Germany and Ukraine, as well as seven domestic associations.

The submitters of 21 electoral lists also proposed 2,012 persons to observe the work of the polling boards, and nine of the electoral lists will have their representatives monitor the work of the Republic Electoral Commission.

Foreign Observers to Follow the Work of the Bodies Conducting the National Minority Council Elections

The direct elections for national minority council members called for 4 November 2018 will be followed by domestic and foreign observers.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had given a positive opinion to the following foreign observers to follow the bodies conducting the elections at all the polling stations: OSCE Mission to Serbia, European Union Delegation to Serbia, and the embassies of the UK, Croatia, USA, Slovakia, Turkey, Germany and Ukraine, as noted at the 93rd session of the Republic Electoral Commission on 29 November 2018.

Republic Electoral Commission Ascertains Collective Electoral Lists of Candidates for the Direct Election of National Minority Council Members Called for 4 November 2018

At tonight’s session the Republic Electoral Commission adopted the decrees on the collective electoral lists of candidates for the direct election of national minority council members called for 4 November 2018.

A total of 58 electoral lists were proclaimed for all 18 national minorities which elect their council members in direct election viz. six for the Albanian, three for the Ashkali, four for the Bosniak, two for the Bulgarian, two for the Bunjevac, two for the Vlach, one for the Greek, three for the Egyptian, two for the Hungarian, three for the German, one for the Polish, five for the Roma, four for the Romanian, seven for the Ruthenian, four for the Slovak, one for the Slovenian five for the Ukrainian and three for the Czech national minority.

The members of the Republic Electoral Commission also adopted the Decision on the shape and appearance of the ballots for the direct elections for national minority council members for 4 November 2018, according to which the ballots for the election of the members of the national councils of the Bunjevac, Vlach, Greek, German, Polish, Roma, Slovenian and Ukrainian national minority will be printed in Serbian, using the Cyrillic script, while the ballots for the election of the members of the national councils of the Albanian, Ashkali, Bosniak, Bulgarian, Egyptian, Hungarian, Romanian, Ruthenian, Slovak and Czech national minority, will be printed in Serbian, using the Cyrillic script, and the language and script of the national minority.

The ballots will be printed on A-4 format paper and the printing will begin on Thursday, 25 October 2018, at 11 am, in the offices of the “Official Gazette” PE printing house.
